Guesthouse and farm Brekkulækur

Brekkulækur, heart and centre of our activities, is not only our home with an office and horse stable, but also a comfortable guesthouse situated in a peaceful rivervalley in northwest Iceland. The old house was build in 1936, has been carefully renovated and the rooms have been transformed into small, individual single and double with shared bathrooms. The newer part of the house harbours double rooms with private facilities. In 2012, the latest extension was build, adding a bright apartment with ample space for up to 5 people and a cozy living room with a view over the river to the guesthouse. Altogether, the three connected
houses form a guesthouse with 25 beds and a small restaurant. Brekkulækur is an ideal gateway to Iceland’s beautiful north and some extraordinary sights are just a short drive away: seal colonies, the basalt formation Hvítserkur, waterfalls, and so much more!
Our small restaurant offers dinner only in the summer (June – August) when there are groups in the house. Please call in advance or write us an email!

Spring days at farm Brekkulækur
In the months of April and May millions of migrating birds return to Iceland and nature comes out of hibernation: roaring brooks, courting birds, bleating lambs and already bright nights – we welcome you to use this wonderful journey time! From the 1st of April to the 31st of May we provide 3 overnight stays in our guesthouse for the price of 2.

Winter days at farm Brekkulækur
In the months of November until March we exclusively open our cozy guesthouse and restaurant for your group during the winter time. You will get the unique chance to experience the beauty of winter in the remote North of Iceland. Short days, long nights, winter romantic and northern lights are waiting for you. Winter storms, cold air and the spectacular colors of the winter sun will keep you busy taking photographs while taking walks or visiting our horses.
