    7 DAYS – RIDING, SIGHTSEEING, HIKING

    We invite you to welcome the start of the season on our farm Brekkulækur, which is located away from the hustle and bustle of city life in a beautiful river valley. This tour is suitable for riders, families, horse – and nature enthusiasts. We explore the area on horseback and experience the icelandic horses in their natural surroundings. Sightseeing, relaxation in natural hot water swimming pools, enjoying icelandic specialities and visiting local artists is all part of the program. Relax, take a big breath of fresh icelandic air and feel at home in the warm and friendly atmosphere of our farm. This program is also a treat for non–riders!

  • Program „Horses and hot pools“

    Arrival
    Welcome at the airport in Keflavík between 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm or from around 5:30 p.m. in Reykjavík at the gas station N1, Ártúnshöfði on Vesturlandsvegur heading north out of town. Transfer to our farm Brekkulækur. Dinner and night lodging there (5x).
    Riding – Swimming pool
    Befriending the horses and riding tour. Depending on the weather, we ride across rivers, through picturesque valleys and over hills with wonderful views. Afterwards we relax in a hot pool in the little village Hvammstangi.
    Seals – Riding – Vatnsnes
    Sightseeing tour around the Vatnsnes peninsula: we visit a seal-colony, bird-cliffs, and the unique basalt rock Hvítserkur, where we take a walk on the black beach. In the afternoon, we go for a ride in our beautiful surroundings, maybe we’ll visit our neighbor (farmer and artist).
    Riding – church service
    Today, possibility to attend a religious country service, followed by a riding tour. In the evening, we can watch a Icelandic movie on DVD.
    Brunch – Riding – Literature
    In the morning, we relax for some time in a hot pool in the swimming pool in the little Village Hvammstangi and afterwards we have a nice big brunch. Later, we will go horseback riding. In the evening, we will have a look to Icelandic books and literature.
    Brekkulækur – Borgarnes – Horsevillage – Reykjavík
    We leave Brekkulækur and drive southwards, where we make a stop at the settlement centre in Borgarnes with an exhibition about the Egilssaga and the settlement of Iceland (optional). In Reykjavík, we will visit a typical icelandic “horsevillage”, where riders keep their horses and partake in the community until the horses leave for the pastures in late May. We will spend the night in a simple hotel in Reykjavík.
    Reykjavík – Transfer to the airport
    Early morning transfer at 04.45 am to the airport.
