Day 1, Tue: Arrival
Arrival and pick up at the airport in Keflavík between 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm or from around 5:30 p.m. in Reykjavík at the gas station N1, Ártúnshöfði on Vesturlandsvegur heading north out of town. Transfer to the Snæfellsnes peninsula (approx. 3 hours), where we will stay for one night with a view of the Snæfelsjökull glacier – one of the earth’s energy points. (A) (D).
Day 2, Wed: Arnarstapi – NP Snæfellsnes – Stykkishólmur – Ferry– Brjánslækur
Today we hike on the picturesque lava coast between Arnarstapi and Hellnar, which fascinates with numerous rock formations in the sea. We visit the beautiful bays of Djúpalónssandur and Dritvík and see one of the most famous photo opportunities in Iceland – Mount Kirkjufell – on the way to the ferry in the Westfjords. Overnight in a guest house in Patreksfjörður village. 2x (B, D)
Day 3, Thu: Látrabjarg
We hike along the impressive cliffs of Látrabjarg, which are under nature protection, where millions of seabirds live and breed (until the beginning of August), including the trusting puffins. (B, D).
Day 4, Fr.: Rauðisandur – Vatnsfjörður
Today we take a trip to the unique and impressive Rauðisandur beach. A hike of several hours towards Skor takes us past the ruins of Sjöundá to the Söðull saddle. Then we continue with our minibus over a mountain pass to Vatnsfjörður fjord, where we will spend the night in a country hotel. (B, D)
Day 5 Sat: Dynjandi – Barðaströnd
The day begins with an excursion to Arnarfjörður, where we visit the beautiful Dynjandi waterfall, which cascades fan-shaped down about 100m. Afterwards we drive along the uninhabited fjord coast of Barðarströnd. Our destination for the day is the idyllically situated Brekkulækur farm and guest house. (B, D)
Day 6, Sun.: Brekkulækur – Peninsula Vatnsnes
Today we take a trip to the sea, visit a seal bank and the famous bird rock Hvítserkur. Then relax in the naturally warm swimming pool at Hvammstangi and return to Brekkulækur. (B, P, D)
Day 7, Mon: Highland
The bus continues on the Kjölur highland slope, where, in the old days, outlaws lived. We stop at the high thermal and nature reserve Hveravellir and hike to the Strýtur shield volcano with its striking crater. Overnight in a mountain hut. (B, P, D)
Day 8, Tue: Geothermal area Kerlingarfjöll
Short drive to Kerlingarfjöll, one of the most striking mountains in the country, which impresses with its colorful rhyolite slopes, small glaciers and an extensive geothermal area. We hike through a colorful, hot gurgling high thermal area. Then continue south and spend the night near the Gullfoss waterfall and the famous geyser. (B, P, D)
Day 9, Wed: Gullfoss – Geysir –– Reykjavík – Keflavík
We visit the famous Gullfoss waterfall, the Geysir hot spring. Then continue to the eruption site of the volcano on Fagradalsfjall, which erupted on March 19, 2021. In the evening we continue to the guest house in Keflavík. (B)
Day 10, Thu Departure
Transfer to the airport and farewell to Iceland. (B*)
