    This varied tour leads us through the western part of Iceland. We explore Iceland unique landscape by on short and long hikes, with a ferry and by minibus: beautiful Borgarfjörður and woodland area Húsafell with Iceland’s biggest lava cave, surtshellir; the picturesque peninsula Snæfellsnes with the glacier Snæfellsjökull; a trip over Breiðafjörður and its countless islands to the incomparable Westfjords, where puffins reside on steep cliffs; Vatnsnes peninsula with black beaches and seal colonies; a trip along famous higland road Kjölur with visits to the geothermal area HVeravellir and the colorful mountains of Kerlingarfjöll; and last but not least the famous Golden Circle and Iceland’s capital, Reykjavík. A tour made for sporty people and nature lovers!

    Arrival and pick up at the airport in Keflavík between 15:00 and 16:30 or around 17:30 in Reykjavík. Transfer to Kirkjuból in the beautiful region of Borgarfjörður, where we will stay in a simple hotel in double or triple rooms (2x).(D)
    Kirkjuból – Hraunfossar
    Today, we visit the nature reserve Hraunfossar with its picturesque waterfalls and hike up the mountains around Húsafell with a view of Langjökull glacier. We will also explore Iceland’s largest lava cave Surtshellir with a main passage of 1,6 km length and many side passages, where outlaws sought temporary shelter in the Middle Ages. (B, P, D)
    Kirjuból – Eldborg
    Journey in the direction of the mystic peninsula Snæfellsnes. On the way, we will stop at
    Europe´s biggest thermal spring, Deildartunguhver, go for a 2-hour long hike to the volcano Eldborg and visit the impressive basalt columns of Gerðuberg. Sleepingbag accommodation in a summerhotel with a whirlpool (2x). (B, D)
    Eldborg – Arnarstapi – Nationalpark Snæfellsnes
    We explore the picturesque Lavacoast between Arnarstapi and Hellnar, where several fascinating stone formations rise from the ocean. Afterwards, we will visit the beautiful bay of Djúpalónssandur and Drítvík and visit a well-hidden smuggler cave at the edge of the sea. (B, D)
    Eldborg – Boat trip – Patreksfjörður
    On we go! Today we take the ferry across the bay of Breiðafjörður with its numerous small islands and cliffs. After the crossing, we continue our journey by car and walk along a mountain track down to the natural harbour of Skor. Overnight stay in a guesthouse in Patreksfjörður (2x). (B, D)
    We walk along the enormously steep shore of Látrabjarg, breeding ground to millions of sea birds – among them the colourful and charming puffin. Opportunity for a climbing-excursion down the coast. (B, D)
    We drive up-hill and cross several mountains until we reach Arnarfjörður where we have the possibility to visit the impressive waterfall “Dynjandi”. Dinner and night-lodging at a Guesthouse. Relaxation in a natural hot-pool at the beach. (B, D)
    Barðarströnd – Brekkulækur
    Drive along the deserted coast of Barðaströnd with some hiking stops in this wonderful area. In the evening, we reach our farm and guest-house Brekkulækur and we’ll treat you to a delicious Icelandic dinner. (B, D)
    Brekkulækur – Vatnsnes peninsula
    Journey by bus and long walk along the sea: seal-colony and bird-cliffs! Later relaxation in a natural hot water swimmingpool in village Hvammstangi and return to Brekkulækur. (B, P, D)
    We drive up and across the highland path Kjölur. Stop-over at the famous geothermal area and nature reservoir Hveravellir, which was a dwelling for outlaws in the old days. A walk to volcano Strýtur, overnight in a mountain hut. (B, P, D)
    Geothermal area – Rhyolite peaks
    Today we reach Kerlingafjöll – one of the most striking mountains of the island with colourful rhyolite-peaks and small glaciers – and explore it. Afterwards we drive southwards and spend the night nearby famous Geysir and waterfall Gullfoss. (B, P, D)
    Gullfoss – Geysir – Þingvellir – Reykjavík – Keflavík
    After breakfast, we visit the famous golden circle: the waterfall Gullfoss, the hot spring Geysir and the historical parliament site at Þingvellir. Afterwards, we drive back to Reykjavík. Drop off there for guests who have booked 11 nights. Time for shopping and around 21.00 transfer to the guesthouse in Keflavík for guests who have booked 12 nights. (B)
    Transfer to the airport and goodbye to Iceland.
