Landsmót the great festival of Icelandic horses takes place every two years. In 2010 in the North of Iceland in Vindheimamelar which is in Skagafjörður, Landsmót shows the very best from Icelandic horses and riders and it has Tournaments, Horse-breeding Shows and Selections – and unforgettable parties in the evening with live music….
We offer 4 different tours combined with the Landsmót:
Tour I: Valley Ride with sightseeing tour Myvatn and Landsmót

Day 1-8, : Description Valley Ride
Day 9 /10 :Brekkulækur- Myvatn –Vindheimamelar/Landsmót
After breakfast we drive to the north, sightseeing: Impressive waterfall Goðafoss, climbing through the city of trolls Dimmuborgir, lake Myvatn with a famous bidlife and psuedo craters and hot springs aerea of Námaskarð. We reach Vindheimamelar in the afternoon move into our tents and have a good look around (camping 3 nights).
Day 11/12/13: Landsmót
We watch the first exciting tournaments of the day and in the evening we go to a party and listen to live-music.We follow the final results and and rejoice with the winners. When the Landsmót comes to an end we head for Reykjavík. Night-lodging in a downtown guesthouse.
Day 14, Mon : Departure
Transfer to the airport and departure.

Program
Day 1, Thu: Arrival-Landsmót
In the evening arrival at the airport and transfer to Landsmót where we will settle down in our tents (3x).
Day 2, Fri: / Day 3, Sat: Landsmót
We have a good look around the Landsmót and watch the first exciting tournaments of the day, enjoying the special atmosphere. In the evening we go to the parties with live-music.
Day 4, Sun: Landsmót-Brekkulæklur
We follow the final results and rejoice with the winners. When the Landsmót comes to an end we head north for the lovely farmhouse Brekkulækur. Dinner and overnight this time "the luxurious way" in made-up beds (4x).
Day 5, Mon:Welcome–Brekkulækur-Riding
In the morning guided social walk around the farm. After lunch we go for a nice long ride and get to know the horses and the Icelandic way of riding. Among other things we will visit the Grettir-monument and his former home the farm Bjarg.
Day 6, Tue: Brekkulækur - Aðalból
After breakfast we are getting ready for a ride into the highlands and we'll take free running horses along with the group. We ride along a river and through a deep canyon with an impressive waterfall towards Aðalból. After our ride we relax in the natural hot swimming pool in the village Hvammstangi.
Day 7, Wed: Aðalból – Brekkulækur
Today we are riding back to Brekkulækur – enjoying the ride, the horses and the lovely view into the valley.
Day 8, Thu: Sightseeing-Geysir-Gullfoss-Þingvellir
A long and very interesting sight seeing today: we see in the south of Iceland the famous Hot spring Geysir - the golden Waterfall Gullfoss and national park Þingvellir. Overnight in a down town guesthouse in Reykjavík.
Day 9, Fri: Airport
Transfer to the airport Keflavík.

9 days, 8 nights, all transfers, entrance fee Landsmót, 3 x nights in tents at the Landsmót (tents provided).4 nights in double-/multi-bedrooms in the farmhouse Brekkulækur, 1 night in Reykjavík in a guesthouse, 2-3 horses per person,
3 days riding (about 50 km, 3-5 hours a day). Full board (breakfast, lunch or picnic and dinner) starting with dinner on day 4 until breakfast day 8. No board during the Landsmót English speaking guide.

No board during the Landsmót.
