RIDING, NATURE, EXPERIENCE
8 DAYS – COMBINED RIDING AND NATURE SIGHTSEEING TOUR
We will go riding in our home-region between the Highlands and the Coast together with free-running horses, along fine bridle paths, off the beaten tourist tracks to the sea side and up to the highland. Discover Iceland also by mini-bus and hiking, enjoy a good view of the beautiful nature in the West of Iceland. Visit rather unknown places such as the woodland Húsafell – Europe's biggest hot spring Delidartunguhver – the magic Waterfall Hraunfossar and the Lava Caves Surtshellir or Viðigelmir.
Program “Riding, Nature, Experience”
Day 1, Thu.: Arrival Transfer Riding
Welcome at the airport Keflavík between 9:00-10:00 in the morning (or at 10:30 in Reykjavík). Transfer to the Farm Brekkulækur where a delicious lunch will be served. In the afternoon we get to know the horses and the Icelandic way of riding. (4 nights at the farm).
Day 2, Fri.: Brekkulækur - Aðalból
Morning at your leisure or social walk. After lunch we are getting ready for our ride towards the highlands, and we’ll take free running horses along with the group. We will ride along the river and through a deep canyon with an impressive waterfall towards the highlands until we reach Aðalból.
Day 3, Sat.: Aðalból - Brekkulækur
Today we are riding back to Brekkulækur – enjoying the ride, the horses and the lovely view into the valley. After our ride we will relax in the natural hot swimming pool in the village Hvammstangi.
Day 4, Sun.: Brekkulækur- Húsafell
Today is an excursion-day and we are driving to Borgarfjörður where we will marvel at the world-biggest hot spring Deildartunguhver, visit the impressive waterfall Barnafoss and the enchanting area Hraunfossar which is rich with hot springs. We will explore Iceland's biggest lava cave. 1 night in simple 2-person summer-huts at the camping site in Húsafell.
Day 5, Mon.: Art - Brekkulækur-Riding
After breakfast we will take a stroll through the famous sculpture garden of the artist Páll Guðmundsson and then it is back to Brekkulækur where once again a tasty lunch awaits. In the afternoon we will saddle the horses and are riding towards the Fjorð Hrútafjörður across a mountain ridge and past numerous picturesque lakes, where we might be able to watch the common loon. At the end of the day we will leave the horses at a pasture and drive back to our Farm.
Day 6,Tu.:Hrútafjörður-Brekkulækur
Today we are riding back on a different route through the highland where we will have a particularly wonderful view. Good-bye to the horses and one last time we are going to the warm pools in Hvammstangi.
Day 7, Wed: Brekkulækur-Reykjavík
Transfer to Reykjavík. Time at your leisure in Europe's most Northern capital. Night-lodging at a quiet little guesthouse.
Day 8,Thu.:Transfer to the Airport
Transfer to the airport and farewell to Iceland .
